Preserving our Village Heritage
The Baker's Almshouses offer safe, well-maintained housing in historic Almshouses for residents in need. We are committed to maintaining these buildings as part of a supportive local community.
We are grateful to Stutton Parish Council for a recent grant of CIL money to ensure the Almshouses have double glazed units throughout. A number of the window frames had elements of the original windows including a significant amount of filler ! We are pleased to have been able to ensure the residents have draught free glazing for the first time since 1863.

Historic Architecture
Built in 1863, our Almshouses reflect classic Victorian architecture in a Suffolk style described at the time of construction as "sufficiently ornamental to be pleasing to the eye"
Ongoing Restoration
The project has 3 elements.
- Improve the surface water drainage of the Almshouses.
- The external walls and chimneys of the building are to be repointed.
- A number of the Almshouses require structural repair and renovation.
